 Welcome to The Garrison Residents' Association, where community comes first! We are dedicated to fostering a safe, welcoming, and connected environment for all residents of the Shoebury Garrison. GRA Committee

Lara Melville - Chairperson

 Meet Lara, a proud resident of the Shoebury Garrison since 2007. As a local school teacher, business owner, and mum of three boys who attended Hinguar Primary School, Lara is deeply rooted in the community. Passionate about fostering community spirit, she co-founded the beloved Garrison Pumpkin Carving Contest and established Garrison Friends during Covid to support vulnerable residents. Lara is dedicated to uniting residents and local businesses through events that strengthen the Garrison's sense of togetherness. 

Nicola Boxer - Secretary

 Meet Nicola, a dedicated working mum of two, both of whom attend Hinguar Primary School. An active member of the Hinguar Parent Teacher Association, Nicola recently served as co-chair, where she demonstrated her passion for improving outcomes for children. Committed to supporting the local community, Nicola is driven to address key issues and foster positive change for residents and families alike. 

Karim Taha - Treasurer

 Meet Karim, a friendly and approachable local resident and parent. Working from home while frequently traveling for work, Karim brings a wealth of exceptional communication and organisational skills, honed through his professional and personal experiences. Having lived in two different areas of the Garrison estate, he offers a unique perspective and is deeply passionate about supporting residents and fostering a strong, community-spirited environment. 

Charlotte Walker

 Meet Charlotte, a dedicated local GP and busy working mum of two whose children attend the local school. Well-known and highly regarded in the area through her family’s role as GPs, Charlotte brings to the GRA committee a deep empathy for all members of the community. Her commitment ensures the GRA can effectively serve and represent the diverse needs of all its residents while fostering a strong community spirit. 

Damion Beech

 Meet Damion, a long-standing member of the GRA committee who has been managing the Garrison Facebook page for several years as well as the more recent Garrison Marketplace. With strong connections to local businesses, Damion is also a local business owner known for completing bathroom fitouts for many Garrison residents. Passionate about fostering connections, he is dedicated to linking residents with trusted local businesses. 

Amanda Gorman

 Meet Amanda, a local business owner and entrepreneur known for offering wonderful, fun activities for children. A busy mum of two, Amanda is a long-standing member of the Hinguar Parent Teacher Association and currently serves as its chairperson. Passionate about fundraising, she has a proven track record of raising significant sums through her expertise in event planning, including the highly successful Hinguar summer and Christmas fairs. 

Nick Kenny

 Meet Nick, a local business owner of the Shoebury Hotel. Nick is passionate about his local community and does much to support the GRA with events that bring the community together. Nick sponsors our annual Carols and the Clocktower event, bringing mince pies and mulled wine to hand out to residents, visitors and the Salvation Army musicians. 

Katie Thomas

 Meet Katie, a local primary school teacher and mum of 3. Katie has lived on the Garrison for almost 20 years and is a regular supporter and organiser of the community events that are held here. Katie is dedicated to ensuring the Garrison remains a lovely place to live and does regular walkarounds with the managing agents to identify issues that residents would like addressing. 

Katy Low

 Meet Katy, a local healthcare professional and busy mum of 3. Katy is a long-standing Garrison resident who has supported and helped organise the social events that take place on the Garrison. Katy is dedicated to ensuring the Garrison remains a lovely place to live for families.
